History

Our journey to win over passion

Once upon a time in Dundalk, there was a group of passionate talents who had the dream to turn Dundalk sports to be known under the golden history of Cricket. They unanimously decided to establish in 1853, the Dundalk Cricket Club which has been a cornerstone of cricket in County Louth. Over the years, the club has seen significant milestones, including the formation of Dundalk Grammar School Cricket Club in 1860 and notable matches against Caledonian Cricket Club and Louth County Cricket Club.

In the late 1800s, cricket thrived in Dundalk, with matches regularly reported in newspapers. Fast forward to the 1990s, the formation of Dundalk Crusaders Cricket Club sparked renewed interest in the sport.

In 2009, Dundalk Cricket Club was officially founded, supported by the Louth Sports Partnership. Since then, the club has grown exponentially, acquiring its ground in Dromiskin in 2010.

Notable achievements include being named “Club of the Month” in ‘The Wisden Cricketer’ magazine and an unbeaten season in 2011. Today, Dundalk Cricket Club continues to promote cricket in the region, with multiple teams competing across divisions and initiatives to support youth and women’s cricket.
